“Because the mets are my favorite team”

Dear Julia,

Today on the way to school with Mom, you announced to the world for the first time that your favorite team is the Mets. While you’ve said “Let’s go Mets” a million times already, I think this is the first time you’ve stated that any sports team is officially your favorite.

And it had me thinking. The last time the Mets won a World Series, I was 4 years old in 1986. I only remember small parts of what baseball was at the time, but I have been able to enjoy the highlights more and more as I’ve grown up rooting for the blue and orange stripes of NY.

This year, we just signed Juan Soto. Who is one of the best players in baseball, and by far one of the best hitters. On top of that, you turn 4 this year as well on 1/1/25. I don’t know if this is is foreshadowing, or how badly this post could potentially age too.

But no matter what, and no matter which team you root for, I will always love you. Just not the Dallas Cowboys. Don’t be a Cowboys fan, okay?
